Why yoga retreat leaders choose Curraweena House
Our yoga retreat venue, not far from Sydney, is in a beautiful setting and features a warm barn fully-equipped with all the equipment and props your guests will need
We’re the perfect spot for your next yoga retreat
Need a little break and time away from the chaos of your normal life? We offer that and more. In fact, Curraweena’s been called a ‘grand old dame’ by one visitor, and he was right: its elegant, old-world charm and well-stocked facilities brings yoga retreat leaders back again and again.
Our retreat leaders love:
how handy it is to have the unique separation between the house and the barn (also affectionately dubbed the shala)
how you can wander from the house through the gardens to the yoga space where you can be fully present
how when you’re done, there are so many other spaces to chill out, including a heated plunge pool (perfect for tired muscles), cosy decks or comfy couches to curl up in.
And there’s nothing like finishing a beautiful day with chats by the outdoor firepit, or perhaps a relaxing meditation by the open fire in the warm, spacious living room. Bliss!
The practice space + equipment
Retreat leaders love our ivy-covered standalone yoga barn.
It’s a lovely, light-filled space and because you have more time on retreat, yoga teachers tell us the space makes it easier to help guests extend their practice, try trickier poses they might not otherwise have time for, or just embrace a little playfulness you might not find in your regular yoga class.
Plus, there’s no need to bring a thing from your studio at home - we make it easy for you and your guests by stocking the barn with all the equipment and props you’ll need:
18 yoga mats
18 bolsters
34 blocks
18 belts
18 blankets
Where you and your guests will stay
Curraweena House
Curraweena House is a large heritage home set on an acre of country gardens. It sleeps 11 and is perfect for small, intimate yoga retreats. It’s also just a short walk to the yoga barn and has a large kitchen, communal eating area and beautiful gardens.
Bell View House
Need more space? Bell View House is just 200m away, sleeps 7 and has a large deck and mountain views. We recommend using Curraweena House as a base for all your retreat activities, and using Bell View House for overflow accommodation if you need it.
Yoga retreat catering
We find lots of the yoga leaders who run retreats at Curraweena House like to serve fresh, wholesome, plant-based meals. Avoiding heavy, greasy or overly refined ingredients can support your physical practice and mental clarity - and help your guests feel light and energised rather than sluggish before or after yoga sessions!
If you have a specific menu or type of food in mind, chat to one of the local recommended chefs on our retreat catering page [link to retreat catering page] - they all know the property well, where to find the best local produce and will happily collaborate with you on just the right meals for your retreat.
