Space to think,
away from the office
Struggling to find time for those deep-focus conversations every leadership team needs - or just need a little space to get to know one another better? A corporate retreat at Curraweena House could be just the recharge required
Your team, at Curraweena House. Here’s why
Your office days are long. Between answering emails, putting out fires and making rushed decisions just to keep things moving, there’s rarely space left over for those longer, deeper chats that are so necessary to building trust and team work.
That’s where getting away can help. A private, rural property that’s built for small groups can remove those everyday distractions and give you and your team the room to connect, think clearly and make plans away from the ever-present pull of the inbox.
At Curraweena House, that means real space to spread out: a standalone barn that’s perfect for workshops and strategy sessions, established gardens and decks great for informal chats - and a firepit for conversations that are never going to happen in the board room.
It’s an easy drive from Sydney but a decent break away from the everyday, so your team can return refreshed, rested and more on the same page.
We’re a rural country property, not a high-end conference centre - and we find most leadership teams who’ve hosted with us prefer that, for a change. Here’s what to expect
The entire property is private and yours alone, perfect for confidential discussions
Your booking includes a spacious standalone barn with trestle tables and chairs, perfect for meetings with an agenda
There’s seated capacity for 30, boardroom style or a more casual configuration
You’ll have AV and WIFI capability plus power points for devices available
There are plenty of outdoor spaces for casual breakout chats - decks, landscaped country gardens and fire-pit
Phone reception is best on the deck at Curraweena House.
Accommodation for your team
Rooms at Curraweena House and the neighbouring Bell View House are flexible rather than a fixed layout. Bedrooms can be configured as shared twin-rooms to keep costs down, or as doubles for those who prefer a quiet solo space to decompress.
You can configure the stay around the size of your team, the budget and personal preferences. Bathrooms are also shared across the houses, keeping in character with the homes’ restored heritage style.

Room configurations are flexible. For teams who want everyone in their own room, expect up to 9 guests total across both properties. For teams happy to share (twin or triple), we can extend capacity up to 18 guests - and we find most groups land somewhere in between (a mix of solo and shared rooms tailored to your team).

Food and dining
Feeding your team well while you’re on retreat is a big deal - and we make it easy by connecting you with some of the region’s best local chefs. They can cater to a menu that suits your program, whether that’s a light breakfast, working lunch between sessions, or a leisurely buffet of an evening when there’s more time to connect and chat.
We supply tea, ground coffee, milk and an on-site percolator, and the dining room can accommodate up to 18 for meals. You’re also welcome to dine on the deck outside, weather permitting. Hosts often like to set up the trestle tables outside in the garden for an alfresco welcome or farewell dinner, which can be a lovely way to open or close a great retreat.
Our favourite spots for downtime and team-building
Chill out in the living room
Comfy couches and an open fire make it a great place to congregate after dinner for casual chats or team-building exercises
After a full day of workshops or strategy sessions, your team probably wants to wind down. If you decide to head off the property, there are plenty of farm gates and cellar doors to visit, plus there are beautiful sunsets at the Vale of Avoca. Sticking closet o home? Here are some spots on the property to enjoy
Light the fire-pit
Our much-loved fire-pit is in the gardens just near the house - grab the marshmallows! We provide the firewood
Take a dip
Our heated plunge pool fits ten people comfortably and is a great way to wind down after a day of meetings
