I’ve been the caretaker and owner of this much-loved property for just over a decade and in that time I’ve welcomed countless retreat owners to bring their communities here - and to experience the property’s warmth and special rustic charm.

The history of
Curraweena House
Curraweena House was originally a farm house, established c1925 by Garnet Dunston, a member of the Light Horse Brigade who had served in World War 1. Garnet set up a dairy and orchard on the property after his return from service, and back in those days, Kurrajong Hills would have offered him a pretty peaceful life, after his return from serving in the war.
One lovely Spring weekend in 2016, we were pottering around in the paddock next door at Bell View House, when Dad mentioned that Curraweena House was for sale. We’d enjoyed watching the transformation of this property from a run-down farm house to a stunningly restored property with landscaped gardens. And not surprisingly, Curraweena won our hearts the moment we walked in to inspect it.
We never knew that buying this project would lead to us welcoming retreat leaders like you, but it absolutely has! And we’ve worked hard to turn it into a space that would appeal to yogis and artists, health practitioners, writers and other retreat hosts from all walks of life.
Over the years, we converted the barn to the ivy-covered Instagram-worthy space it is today, and we added touches like a firepit and a plunge pool to the garden. It has a peaceful country vibe that’s not easy to get this close to Sydney - in fact, you may even spot our gently belted galloway cattle wandering in the paddock!
